Farmer screws are the standard fastener for fixing metal sheeting to timber structures. Info-GLOBAL supplies them as self-drilling screws made of hardened carbon steel SAE 1022, with an 8 mm hexagonal head and a sealing washer that closes the hole against water.

Where they are used

Flat sheets, profiled sheets and sheet metal flashings fixed to structural timber — roof battens, purlins and rafters. The self-drilling point removes the need for pre-drilling, which matters on a roof where every operation is repeated thousands of times.

Corrosion protection and sealing

Two washer options are available: zinc-plated Ø14 (class Z4) and aluminium Ø14 (class A4). The aluminium washer is the choice for roofs where the fastener must match the service life of the covering. Zinc coating is a minimum of 12 µm.

Heads can be powder coated in our own paint shop — UV-resistant polyester, 50–60 µm thick, colour-matched to the roof sheeting. In practice this means the fastener disappears into the roof surface instead of marking it with rows of visible dots.

Documentation

The screws in this category are covered by European Technical Assessment ETA-18/0789. Declarations of performance and assessment documents are available under Files to download, so the fasteners can be entered into project handover records without additional correspondence.

Range

This category includes the AR2 4.8xL, AR2 4.8xL UFO, AR2 4.8xL SS and AR 0 4.8xL lines. Lengths are matched to sheet profile and timber thickness. If you are choosing between versions, or need a length that is not listed, write to us — we supply manufacturers of roofing sheet across the EU and most enquiries are answered the same day.
